Da Silva Surfcamp Portugal
Um refúgio perfeito / a perfect retreat
a typical Portuguese country house in the middle of nature
A warm welcome to you
Da Silva Surfcamp Portugal is a typical Portuguese country house in the middle of nature without any traffic in the surrounding area. The property is surrounded by extensive fields and you have a fantastic view from everywhere over the green landscape and a wide valley to the villages on the opposite side. From the huge sun terrace you can comfortably relax in the hammock and enjoy the wonderful view to the ocean and the next beach village. Praia da Areia Branca. In the evening you can enjoy wonderful sunsets. There are several beautiful trails through the countryside to the beach, where you can walk in about 20 minutes. With our beach cruiser, which can be borrowed for free from us, you don’t need 10 minutes and over the country road you can reach the beach in 3 minutes by car. Although you are so close to the Atlantic Ocean, you will feel like you are somewhere in the country far away from the hustle and bustle of beach life.
Da Silva Surfcamp Portugal has double rooms, triple rooms, four-bed rooms and a seven-bed room. The double rooms share a bathroom with shower. Each of the dormitories has its own bathroom. The communal kitchen, where breakfast is served every morning, is located on the ground floor next to the large covered outdoor area, where barbecue evenings take place. In total we have room for 22 persons. But this is spread out quite well, because there are many corners and niches where you can retreat to if you want to read a good book in peace and quiet.
Casinha do $urf
About 20 meters from the Da Silva Surfcamp there is this separate wooden cottage, which is ideal for people who want to participate in the social life of a surfing camp but want to retreat at any time. The cottage has a very pleasant room climate. During the day it doesn’t get too hot and at night the pleasant warmth of the sun keeps in the house. In the cottage there is a small television with satellite reception, so you can also watch international television. If you want to cook something, the common kitchen of the surf camp is at your disposal. On the way there you pass our bar, where you can refresh yourself before or after the exhausting kitchen work.
Quarto do Terraço
Double or 4-Bed Room
The terrace room is on the first floor of our main house above the fireplace room. The room has a bunk bed with double mattress. There is a toilet with washbasin and a small table where you can play cards. In the front part of the room there is a cosy sitting area. The sofa can be turned into a comfortable double bed, so that the room is well suited for two couples or even better for a couple with two children. The highlight, however, is undoubtedly the large sun terrace (partly covered), from which one has a great view over the wide landscape to the Atlantic Ocean. The terrace can also be reached via an outside staircase from Mario und Elke’s patio. That is why sometimes other guests sunbath there, but in the evening we ask them to respect the night’s silence. You can shower in the shared bathroom on the ground floor or in the (hot) outside shower around the corner.
Double Room with two single beds
The double room on the first floor of the main house can be reached via the inside staircase from the kitchen or the fireplace room. The room has two single beds, which can also be put together to form a double bed. If necessary, a cot can be added to the room. The window offers a great view over the wide landscape to the village of Zambujeira. The bathroom with shower on the ground floor is shared with the other two rooms on the first floor. In the fireplace room there is, however, a guest toilet for urgent cases.
Double or 3-Bed Room
Also on the first floor of the main house you can see the village of Abelheira on the horizon by looking out of the window of this room. The room has a double bed and a high plateau (gallery) with a single mattress. Perfect for a couple with a child or 3 adults who like each other very much. The bathroom on the ground floor is shared with the other two rooms on the first floor.
Our 4-Bed room on the ground floor can be reached directly from the fireplace room. There are two bunk beds and the guests have their own bathroom with shower. Right next to the door there is a guest toilet in the fireplace room.
Our largest dormitory is located in a separate building just around the corner from the kitchen and diagonally across from our bar. In the room there are 3 bunk beds and above the bathroom with shower there is a loft bed (gallery) with another single mattress ideal for people over 2 meters because the foot end is open. Outside next to the entrance door you can take a warm shower in the open air and enjoy the view over the wide landscape.
fully booked ≠ fully booked
With us you can also book a caravan and/or of course travel with your own caravan. The prices are the same as for our dormitories. The advantage for two persons is that they are alone in the caravan and do not have to pay the extra charge for a double room. The caravan has a power connection, the built-in toilet is not allowed to be used. Of course, guests are allowed to use the bathroom and kitchen in the main house, as well as the entire outdoor area.
There is nothing to add…
Our Surfcamp Portugal is an open house, which means there is always a lot going on with us. In addition to the shared dinners included in the price, spontaneous barbecues or campfire sessions are often organized. Since we are half Portuguese ourselves, friends of us (Locals) come along to sit at the campfire. Then it is not uncommon that someone suddenly pulls out a guitar and the evening goes on for much longer than planned. There are also some nice party destinations in the surrounding area, to which we are happy to take you in our shuttle bus. You should not only learn to surf, but also get to know some of the nice Portuguese nightlife.
Around the house there is mainly a lot of rustic nature. You can take wonderful walks along the country lanes. On the other side of the valley lies the typical farming village “Zambujeira”. There’s nothing else there but a small café and a mini grocery store. However, it is still worth a visit as it is still very original there. Once a year, sometime in August, there is a big village festival, for which even the great-grandmothers dress up once again. If you want to go out in the evening, you have to go to Praia da Areia Branca or to Peniche, but we take you there with our shuttle bus. So you don’t have to worry, you won’t get bored.
